I watched this dvd on the history channel and I have to say it is so far from the truth it is amusing. It leaves out the most famus of all time Rabi’s and shows the unique day record as if Beurg is the only one trying to spred the word of kabbalah and that is groundless as well. Dr.Laitman who studdied under Rabi Ashlag the son of the Bal hasulam has Kabbalah classes every day of the week and for free all materials old-fashioned are free and he has embodied the proper message of Kabbalah and alturisum by doing so. Any time you achieve a note price on the studies of Kabbalah you deform the lawful messages that kabbalah has and sends. this dvd is a waist of time and money if you wish to discover the truth about kabbalah go to […] and glance first hand what ture kabbalaist are doing and saying. who knows you might become one too. G-d bless and thank you

This is aesthetic standard tv: watered down, without any right insight or usefulness. I explain it is ok as an introduction to one scheme of viewing the history, but like all history, it is really honest a collection of repeated opinions. I liked Sex: The Secret Gate to Eden a lot better.

Since I’ve been watching a ton of Eurohorror classics lately, now is as good as a time as any to say a few words about “Daughters of Darkness.” I made a vow some time ago to ignore vampire films as a general rule. It’s not that I strongly dislike all vampire films, mind you, but I just feel like the genre has been done to death over the years. How many versions of Dracula can you watch before your eyes start rolling over the predictability of it all? The plots are all essentially the same, right? You’ve got the obligatory virgin, the dashing young lad, the wizened vampire hunter, and good old Drac himself ambling around in the dark tormenting the others. A bunch of people fall prey to the vampire, the hunter teams up with the young man in an effort to save the young girl, and a stake through the old ticker pretty much wraps the whole thing up. Well, a bit of experience reveals quite a few films that play around with this tried and true formula. One way to accomplish something different, if these European flicks are any indication, is to punch up the proceedings with a generous helping of bare flesh. There’s nothing like a bunch of gals trooping around in revealing outfits, or no outfits at all, to perk up the dreary old Stoker legend. And if you can make the head vampire a woman, that certainly can’t hurt either. Welcome to “Daughters of Darkness.”

Something weird and wonderful is going on in this movie, but you have to wait awhile to see it. The picture starts out by showing us two freshly wedded lovebirds, Valerie (Danielle Ouimet) and Stefan (John Karlen), heading to the European coast on a train. Ostensibly, the two married in secret and are now going to head over to England to meet Stefan’s domineering mother. Valerie worries whether the woman (ha!) will accept her since Stefan makes it abundantly clear that his beloved mother is quite picky about her son’s girlfriends. Stefan assures Valerie all will go well, but it soon becomes apparent that he isn’t hurrying to get to England. While waiting for the ship that will take them home, the two check into a massively creepy hotel on the coast. No other guests are staying in the building since it’s out of season, so Valerie and Stefan have the beautiful building all to themselves. That is until Countess Elizabeth Bathory (Delphine Seyrig) and her beautiful companion Ilona (Andrea Rau) arrive on the scene in a vintage automobile. Most of us are aware that Elizabeth Bathory was a notorious sixteenth century Hungarian noblewoman who supposedly kept herself eternally young by bathing in vats filled with the blood of young maidens. Unfortunately, Valerie and Stefan don’t make the connection.

Still, the newlyweds grow increasingly aware that something isn’t right with the beautiful countess. First, it’s rather odd that the hotel manager claims that he remembers Countess Elizabeth showing up at the hotel nearly fifty years before looking exactly as she does now. Second, she’s downright creepy. There’s something hidden behind her horrific grin that makes you want to scream. Second, the Countess Elizabeth takes an incredible interest in the activities of the couple. She always seems to appear whenever Stefan and Valerie leave their room, grinning that horrible grin and cooing like a cat over the two newlyweds. Bathory seems to have an eye for the beautiful Valerie, too, which makes sense when we discover exactly why Ilona follows her around like a puppy. It turns out history made a mistake about the blood vats, not recognizing or refusing to record that Bathory was really a vampire with a penchant for young gals. She’s roamed Europe for over three hundred years playing the same bloody game, a game that now threatens to rip apart forever this hapless couple. In no time at all, Elizabeth manages to drive a wedge between the Stefan and Valerie, recruit the latter to her thirsty cause, and wreak a whole heck of a lot of havoc in the hotel.

You just gotta love this film. “Daughters of Darkness” is one of the best vampire films I have ever seen for a multitude of reasons. The primary reason the picture succeeds is due to the amazing talents of Delphine Seyrig. Who is this enchanting woman and where has she been all my life? I love this lady! She manages to make her character insanely gorgeous and metaphysically eerie at the same time. She slinks around in shimmering outfits dropping suggestive comments, tells horribly gory stories, winks, and grins with the greatest of ease. And her fate at the end of the film is gruesome and disturbing. Just as good as Seyrig is the oppressive atmosphere of the hotel and the desolate surroundings. Characters move around outside under overcast skies and through pouring rain. Forests nearby are dense and spooky. Every set piece seems to telegraph a sense of impending doom for the film’s participants. Finally, you simply won’t believe your eyes when Stefan calls his mother on the phone. What was director Harry Kumel thinking here? What an incredibly bizarre scene to insert into the picture! Oh man, you just won’t comprehend the insanity of it!

“Daughters of Darkness” deserves five stars for its amazing performances and over the top antics. I can’t thank Blue Underground enough for releasing this treasure on DVD. While the print transfer occasionally suffers from some minor blemishes and fading colors, most of the movie looks great. Extras include two commentary tracks, radio spots, a trailer, stills, and an interview with Andrea Rau. Run, don’t walk, to pick up a copy of this underrated gem.

The notion of “vampirism” has always had ties to dark and forbidden sides of human sexuality, and has served as metaphor for homosexuality, nymphomania, and maochism. The sexual revolution of late 60’s and early 70’s produced a bevy of erotic, “lesbian” vampire films, in which their creators were able to graphically exploit all manner of sexual taboos that had only been hinted at previously. DVDs have given us a wonderful cross-section of these forbidden fruits from Jess Franco’s psychedelic Vampiros Lesbos to the surreal-dreamy trappings of Jean Rollin’s Shiver Of The Vampires, but Daughter’s of Darkness is for many (myself included) is the cream of the crop.

Daughter’s is kind of a hybrid between Sheridan Fornau’s often-filmed vampire story, Carmilla, and the many legends and exploits of real-life “vampire” Elizabeth Bathory. Brought into the present, the film begins with the arrival of two newlyweds, Stephan & Valerie (John Karlen & Danielle Quimet), to a gloomy and mostly deserted beachfront hotel in Belgium. From the onset we observe all is not right with this union, Stephan refuses to tell his “mother” of their marriage and is revealing an aloof and sadistic temperament, which Valerie mournfully tolerates. Out of the night arrives the Countess Elizabeth Bathory (Delphine Seyrig) and her sultry companion/accomplice Ilona (Andrea Rau). The Countess takes an immediate, carnal interest in the young newlyweds, and especially in Valerie. Meanwhile there seems to be a rash of murders in the nearby villages in which the young female victims have been drained of all their blood. Before long the countess and her reluctant companion have seduced the troubled newlyweds, and this is where the fun begins.

Though many erotic vampire films of the time boast tantalizing visuals & copious nudity, director Harry Kummel clearly meant Daughters of Darkness to be more than a thinly veiled soft-core “art film”. Not that it’s minus these elements, Daughters’ is quite explicit, but it’s also a sophisticated and highly styled horror film laced with bewildering moments of black-comedy. In short, it’s delightfully European.

As the ageless and decadent Elizabeth Bathory, Euro-star Delphine Seryig is without peer. More often than not, female erotic-vampires are portrayed as baleful, unwilling victims of their own desires, but not Elisabeth. The Countess takes great pride in her wickedness, and done-up like a thirties Marline Dietrich, Seyrig is believable and amusing, but never corny as she gleefully corrupts all that she touches.

Blue Underground’s anamorphic transfer of Daughters is a vast improvement over the early Anchor Bay edition. Though utilizing the same source, Blue Undergrounds mastering is sharper, the colors are more stable and it’s free of the bleeding and artifacts that plague the previous release. It still contains the commentary track with male lead John Karlen, but raises the stakes greatly with an additional commentary track with director Harry Kumel, an onscreen interview with actress Andrea Rau, an excellent theatrical trailer, radio spots, and a poster and still gallery. Priced at $20 (or less) this is an essential up-grade for Euro-horror fans and an excellent entry for the Euro-curious.

“Champagne for Caesar” was a film I saw in my early days of film going. I’ve always remembered it as a smart and funny film, especially notable for Celeste Holmes sophisticated turn as Ronald Coleman’s charming nemesis and Vincent Price’s off-the-wall performance as the eccentric manufacturor of “Milady Soap, The Soap That Sanctifies.”

I looked forward to this DVD but must report that technically it falls too far short to recommend. About a quarter of the way into it, the sound turns extremely harsh and is almost unlistenable. Later still, intrusive scratches and smudges– that surely could have been eliminated–suddenly intrude, spoiling the moment.

“Champagne for Caesar” remains a charming romp but not in this presentation.

I won’t go into the story line as others before me have covered that. Let me instead deal with the quality of this DVD. It stinks! Mainly because of the sound. At points it sounds like the actors are talking under water. At first I thought I had a bad disc, so I returned it for replacement, but got the same problem. So I wrote to the company that put this out on DVD and this was their response: Thank you for your inquiry. We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed with your latest Image Entertainment purchase. Unfortunately the problem that you are describing concerning the soundtrack of this film is the result of damaged film stock. Image Entertainment made three attempts to find the best available master for this film and the finished product was made using the best remaining film stock available.

Bottom line is, buy this ONLY if you can’t do without this film. Otherwise there are lots of other wonderful films on better DVDs.

Despite having far superior product for distribution via Pixar, Disney still tries to churn out their own animation these days. While the golden days of yesteryear are gone and the resurgence back in the early 90s are long behind us, it’s nice to see disney put out a couple good titles here and there.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Bolt! Click Here

“Bolt” is pretty good. It’s predictable, to be sure. In fact, some of it reminds me of Disney’s other recent dog film, “Beverly Hills Chihuahua,” in that a dog is removed from a somewhat priviliged background and forced to live like a regular dog. Like any good animal movie, Bolt meets friends along the way. Upstaging Bolt is Rhino, a hamster who worships Bolt and moves around in a little plastic ball.

What Disney has succeeded in doing is injecting a little heart back into their product. It’s something they’ve really not been able to successfully do since “Lilo and Stitch.” There’s a really touching scene between Bolt and a stray cat named Mittens that not only captures the heart of the film, but really makes you think twice about animal abandonment!

Performances are good all around and the animation is top notch. For some reason, I feel that Disney still wants to compete against their own partner Pixar. Still, the characters aren’t quite as multidimensional. And considering the hero’s plight to get back to his owner Penny, Penny really gets little time in this. The film has a fun road movie quality and the film makers seemed to have fun with the action sequences. It’s a fun watch, but pretty far from Pixar quality.

“Bolt” really blew me away; this is the first time that I have seen a CGI film that shows a level of mastery that allows the visual artistry of the film to be the driver rather than the capabilities of the computer. The characters have the typical CGI look–extremely well rendered, with the 3D type look you’d expect. However, the backgrounds have the look of a traditional painting. Art Director Paul Felix should be commended for this mixing of styles which works out extremely well. The overall lighting, colors, and style of this film are its hallmark in my opinion. The story is really not anything that will blow you away; in fact, it is somewhat predictable; however, with the characterizations, action sequences, visual quality, and the vocal talents behind the characters, “Bolt” becomes a must-see.

In a nutshell: Bolt (John Travolta) is a super-hero canine…at least in his own mind and to TV viewers everywhere. In order to protect his performance and keep it “real,” TV execs have sheltered Bolt and he believes that what he accomplishes on his show is all done on his own, not through special effects. Bolt is deeply devoted to his human costar, Penny, a little girl (Miley Cyrus), who is also deeply devoted to him as well. Mistakenly thinking that Penny is in danger at the hands of the TV villains, Bolt escapes his trailer and finds himself in the real world, where his super powers are not so super. He accidentally gets shipped to NYC, and thinks that the pink styrofoam peanuts clinging to his fur are the cause of his loss of power. With the help of a hamster named Rhino (Mark Walton) and a street-tough kitten, Mittens (Susie Essman, who is FANTASTIC!), Bolt must find his way back to Hollywood and his beloved Penny. It is a tale of growth, maturity, and love; again, nothing really earth-shattering, but in this recycled tale that we have seen in other movies, it is done so well that you forgive the studio for its predictability.

BONUS MATERIAL:

“Super Rhino” (4:27)–Rhino the hamster gets the spotlight in this animated short focusing on him. Cute!

Deleted Scenes: 2 deleted scenes (”Dog Fight in Vegas” and “River Sequence”) with introductions by directors Chris Williams and Byron Howard. They are both shown in storyboard form and neither is really missed from the final picture. They were not used mainly because they wanted to heighten the emotional level of Bolt finding out about his lack of powers.

“In Session with John Travolta & Miley Cyrus” (:59)–This one is like a blip on the radar…very short! Interviews with both stars as they get ready to sing the duet from the movie “I Thought I Lost You.” They are truly a mutual admiration society, with Travolta comparing Cyrus to the appeal of Olivia Newton John in “Grease.”

“I Thought I Lost You” Music Video–Interspersed with footage of Travolta & Cyrus and clips from the film.

Bolt’s Be-Awesome Mission–High def video game is somewhat more challenging and fun than the typical Disney video game extra. Begin at level 1, The Burning Warehouse and see how far you can progress! Takes a little bit of mastering of the controls on the remote.

“A New Breed of Directors: A Filmmakers’ Journey” (4:34)– The two directors discuss what it was like to make “Bolt,” and how John Lasseter was a great mentor and guide in the process. Fun to see the gigantic plastic hamster ball that the animators played in to diffuse tensions around the office. Obviously great camaraderie was apparent with the team, as they also stopped shaving in unison during the last 9-10 weeks of work on the film.

“Act, Speak! The Voices of Bolt” (9:47)–Always interesting to see how each actor has to record their lines independently, making the process of playing off the other characters next to impossible. Really takes talent to make it work. Travolta began in voicework (commercials), so this was a return to his roots. He comments that “You can only contribute your voice…the most exciting this was seeing the marriage with the animation.” Mark Walton, a Disney animation team member, did the scratch voice of Rhino, and was so perfect that he was cast in the final movie. The actual video of him finding this news out is touching to watch as you see his unbridled enthusiasm. Susie Essman (”Curb Your Enthusiasm”), the voice of Mittens, was excited to show her method acting skills, but was told by the Disney team to be herself. They wanted a tough kitten with a New York accent. As Susie says, “It’s just me.” Disappointingly enough, she never met Travolta during her recording sessions, even though practically every scene in the movie involves her character interacting with Travolta’s.

Bolt Art Galleries: Character Design, Color Script, Storyboard Art, and Visual Development. Sure is fantastic to see this great pieces of art filling up a widescreen high-def TV. The quality is really amazing, and sure beats the old days of DVD when art gallery images were in low-res and fairly tiny.

“Creating the World of Bolt” (6:45): The amazing work of art director Paul Felix and lighting director Adolph Lusinsky is detailed here. They actually visited the many locations across the country to make sure that they were able to capture the light of each unique scenic setting. Felix wanted the painterly looks of traditionally animated Disney films, and he definitely succeeds. Interesting to watch this featurette.

Also included:

Digital Copy disc and a DVD of the feature with all the bonus features except the art gallery and video game.

SPECS:

Video: 1080p High Def/1.78:1. Disney is to be commended for having high-def extras as well. Whereas most studios go to the usual crappy video quality, Disney consistently upgrades even the extras. Especially enjoyable for the video game.

Audio: English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio (48 kHz/24-bit) and Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital. I actually had to turn the volume down a bit, as this movie really gives the speakers a work-out. Sound comes out of all your speakers, and with a number of action sequences, the subwoofer really rumbles! Extremely impressive! Subtitles: English SDH, Spanish.

FROSTYS WINTER WONDERLAND: Just like the song says, Frosty comes back again someday. Frosty returns to play with the children, but Jack Frost is envious of him. He tries to steal Frosty’s magic hat to take his powers. The children build Frosty a wife named Crystal according to magic instructions from Frosty. When Jack Frost finally gets Frosty, it’s his wife that must save him with love.

The studio that made the first hour long cel animated Frosty special that first aired on CBS television in 1969 is Rankin/Bass Productions, the kings of holiday specials. That show was based on the original song written in 1951 by Steve Nelson and Jack Rollins. The studio made a terrific half hour sequel in 1976 for ABC television titled “Frosty’s Winter Wonderland”. That special starts right where the first one left off. The character design was by Paul Coker Jr., who did the same work for the first special, so the visual continuity works very well and the characters have that classic Rankin/Bass ‘look’. He also did the unique lettering for the credits in both specials. The famous voice actor Paul Frees stars as Jack Frost, and the policeman. Frees was a regular in studio productions and had also voiced the policeman, ticket seller, and Santa Claus in the original. Jackie Vernon voiced Frosty just like he did before, and Selly Winters is his new wife. The writer for both Rankin/Bass shows was Romeo Muller, and Maury Laws returned as the musical director. Interestingly, while Rankin/Bassis known for the high quality of their original songs, they used Christmas standards in their sequel. While the first show was narrated and sung by Jimmy Durante, the second time we had the voice talents of Andy Griffith. Nothing against Andy, but it is a big change.

‘TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS: The story of two families, one human family of Joshua Trundel the clockmaker, the other a mouse family that lives in their house. In Junctionville, all letters to Santa have been returned and the townsfolk are worried. Turns out that Santa is upset at a letter from “all of us” to the editor in the paper, saying that he didn’t exist. A young genius mouse named Albert turns out to be the culprit. The town starts the Joshua will build a special clock to encourage Santa to come by singing a song “Calling Santa” at midnight on Christmas Eve. But the clock breaks down too. The people turn against Joshua, and he starts losing customers. Soon enough, his family is starving, and so in turn is the mouse family. It is eventually found that Albert is responsible for the clocks malfunction but did not do it on purpose. He is sorry, but his dad encourages him that sorry is not enough, you must fix what you did wrong. If Albert can fix the clock in time, then Christmas may be saved yet, along with the reputation of Joshua.

Rankin/Bass Studio created this wonderful traditional cel animated special for CBS televison. It first aired on December 8, 1974 in a half hour format on CBS television. The screenplay was by Jerome Coopersmith, inspired by the Clement Moore poem, it does not literally follow the lines of the poem until near the end. The memorable song “Calling Santa” is one of best songs to come from the studio. Also has the songs “Even a Miracle Needs a Hand” (really good), and “Give Your Heart a Try”. Character design was by Paul Coker, Jr. who designed the characters appearance for nearly every holiday special from the studio. With musical direction by Maury Laws… Yes, he was the musical genius behind the Rudolph special and it shows. The songs are really good in this special. Lyrics were written by Jules Bass. The actual songs and narration are performed by Joel Gray, and he voices the character of the human father Joshua. Tammy Grimes stars as Albert Mouse, and George Gobel as Father Mouse. John McGiver as the Mayor.

Twas the Night Before Christmas was one of my favorite Christmas specials when I was a kid and it still is.

The story begins with a reading of Clement’s The Night Before Christmas but creatures are stirring because they have learned that Santa is upset with their town and he isn’t stopping to bring toys this year. The story is told jointly from a mouse/human perspective through a flashback to reveal why Santa is upset and how they hope to remedy the situation.

Other Christmas shows (such as Rudolph and Charlie Brown) have received more attention over the years but, in my estimation, Twas the Night Before Christmas belongs in the same lofty company. It’s a great story and we got the DVD so our kids could enjoy the show too.

You’re looking for a comedy on DVD. Let’s see…

You don’t want any comedy that’s too sophisticated, like “Deconstructing Harry”.

You don’t want any comedy that’s too insane, like “There’s Something About Mary”.

You JUST want to laugh.

I’m proud to say “Happy Gilmore” will make you scream with laughter, my friend. This is Adam Sandler’s platinum hit, the best comedy of his career. It has the coveted Amazon.com five-star customer rating, a rare find indeed for the comedy lover, and reviewers call it “the best golf comedy since ‘Caddyshack’”. The movie stars Adam Sandler (Bulletproof, The Wedding Singer, Billy Madison) as Happy Gilmore, a short-fused hockey player who just realized he AGAIN didn’t make the cut for his hockey team for the 10th time in a row. After taking out his raging anger on the coach, he life begins to spiral downwards when his girlfriend leaves him, and he realizes his grandmother’s prized house built by his grandfather’s bare hands if about to be seized by the IRS in 90 days due to her failure to pay taxes in over a decade. But when he discovers his monster hockey slapshot equals one hell of a talent in golf, he is talked into playing golf by a local retired golfer, Chubbs Peterson, for the money to reclaim his grandma’s house. But not only is Happy not ready for golf, but the president of the Pro Tour, Doug Thompson, doesn’t think golf is ready for Happy! Even his future golf enemy, Shooter McGavin, thinks he’s making a mockery of golf with his very bad temper and his rambunctious behavior. But Happy is a hit with fans, so he’s weaved himself through the loophole…for now. For a shining moment he’s riding on Cloud 9-iron, but Shooter McGavin, and the accidental death of his beloved mentor Chubbs, are threatening to take away not only his grandmother’s house, but his dream as well, and it’s not just about his grandma’s house anymore…it’s about triumph.

So, if you love simple comedy, get Happy Gilmore on DVD. You’ll fall down laughing….guaranteed!

Adam Sandler does it again with “Happy Gimore.” By far his best movie, Adam plays a wanna be hockey player with a short-fuse. He gets in many fights in this movie, one with Bob Barker I might add.

The story starts out with the audience finding out that he has tried out for this Minnesota hockey team too many times and has never been accepted. He has had enough of this happening to him so he tries to stab someone with his skate.

He leaves the ice and later on a used to be golfer with a wooden hand noticed his ability and soon enough he is on the PGA tour. The only catch is, he doesn’t want to be someone that wears tight clothing and volleyball hats while playing golf….he wants fans cheering, beach-balls being hit, and fans calling his name.

A rival golfer hates this and tries to get rid of him and that is where the story takes off. Sandler plays a great role and is very funny of course. Now, I don’t know about you, but if you say you like comedy but haven’t seen this one yet, you are definitely not a comedy fan.

Happy Gilmore has no faults and is laughter the whole way through. So if you feel like watching a movie with your buddies that you know you are gonna die laughing at, I would suggest buying this movie because you WILL watch it again and again.

Thanks for reading my review and be sure to get this movie!!

I first saw this movie/documentary about “THE FIREMAN” Jim Dunn at a Drive-in Movie in the early 80’s. This movie follows this Legendary Drag Racer around the country during 1970 when he domenated the Funnycar class with his innovative rear engine direct drive 1970 Plymouth Barracuda. This type of setup was several decades ahead of it’s time and now the main stay of all Top Fuel Dragster’s today. This film also contains footage of then very young Mike Dunn drag racing his bicycle in parking lots and he even dropped a cute as he eliminated the competition. Mike Dunn drives a Top Fuel Dragster today and his dad Jim Dunn is still an Owner/Crew Chief of a Top Fuel Funnycar Team. Jim Dunn is probably one of the most over looked Legends in Drag Racing today. If you want a film that documents this Legendary Drag Racer in his hay day then you’ll want this movie.

Just like the previous person. I also saw this at a small theatre in Illinois when just 5 or 6. I grew up at a local dragstrip (BYRON.) And witnessed “Snakes” and “Mongoose’s” cars.
Plus all the others in the video. I mentioned the film to my father in late August and asked if he remembered taking me and my brother to see it. He sure did. He loved taking me and my brother to the races. My father and I still attend the races together. I love it. My mother found this film on your site(AMAZON.co) and had to buy it for me for Christmas. Was I surprised. I have watched it three times already. Awesome! I wish I was a little older in those days. All I remember is the awesome paint jobs on cars like the Hawaiian and Showtime. Also the Army Tank Wheelstander. Thank-you in helping me relive my childhood.

Certain individuals have erroniously indicated in these reviews that the Special Edition will not have commentaries or other special features. They are wrong.

The special edition will contain the following:

A “21st anniversary” cut of the film that is 24 seconds longer, Dolby digital 5.1, a subtitle track for people who don’t like the film (with text from Shakespeare’s Henry IV), an onscreen screenplay option, audio commentary with Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, John Cleese, Eric Idle and Michael Palin, and Follow the Killer Rabbit option. Disc 2 contains “Three Mindless Sing-Alongs” and “The Quest for the Holy Grail Locations” featurette, “How to Use Your Coconuts” educational film, “Monty Python and the Holy Grail in Japanese” (with English subtitles), the BBC Film Night special “On Location with the Pythonos”, an interactive cast directory, still galleries with Terry Gilliam’s original sketches and behind-the-scenes photos, “A Load Of Rubbish” with mystery items, unused ideas and other material, and finally two trailers and weblinks.

There will be no special features with the special edition? RUBBISH! This is not simply a reissue of the older DVD with new sound and audio as some have implied.

This is one of the funniest movies ever committed to film, no doubt about it. Were I to judge this DVD on the film alone, I would have given it five stars. If you are one of the few who have never seen this picture, do yourself the favor of and buy a copy on VHS straight away.

Purchasing this title on DVD, however, I have to take marks away from an otherwise excellent comedy. There has been absolutely nothing done to enhance the quality of this 25 year old film, and a DVD system drives the visual and auditory pitfalls home with feeling. The picture is grainy and jittery in many places, and the audio is mudded and full of hiss. I confess, I was looking forward to a sharper, cleaner viewing of one of my all time favorite movies than I had ever had before. I was profoundly dissapointed.

It is an hysterical movie, but don’t look for an experience above what is delivered on the average bargin basement SLP recorded VHS tape here. If you’ve never seen it, go run and rent a copy from the local video store, and wait for a remastered release.

Don’t pay attention to the amazon.com reviewer, this movie is one of the best comedies ever! The dynamics between Lawrence and Robbins are great and the plot’s VERY nice and twisty. If you don’t much care for “boyz in da hood” type movies, don’t worry - this isn’t one. It’s just a great comic adventure that’ll make you almost fall out of your chair laughing.

This is one of my favorite comedies. Robbins and Lawrence are a really good team; the “spider-freak-out” dance by Robbins, and the goofy security guard routine by Steve Oedekerk were hilarious.
